The world’s first Starbucks coffee shop opened at Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington, in 1971. This location is the most famous of the coffee chain’s establishments and retains its original look and feel. However, there is a little-known fact: this is not actually the first Starbucks store; it is the second location. The original Starbucks café was situated at 2000 Western Avenue from 1971 to 1976 before being relocated to 1912 Pike Place Market, its current location, due to the heavy foot traffic in the area.
